Now here is a brake system that makes "cents"...literally and figuratively!
Have you ever been frustrated with the feel of your brakes? Do you wish you could change your brakes between the track and the road? Do you notice brake fade halfway through your day of riding? Most likely, it is because you have not changed the master cylinder.
We have added a new master cylinder to your bank of products from Brembo. The 19 RCS Radial Master Cylinder is an optimal choice if you frequently change your bike from the road to the track, and especially if you ride on different tracks over the course of the season. The biggest benefit? Money. Two master cylinders are no longer needed to adjust the bike. So no matter what the conditions, you have the right master cylinder.
On this system, the brake lever pivot point is set at two distances simply by turning a roll cam on the front of the lever, making its job, to slow the front brake down, even easier. On older cylinders, riders had to choose between a 19 x 18 ratio (a better ratio for track riding) or a 20x19 (better for street riding). A decision had to be made before the cylinder was even bought. Was the ride going to be on the street or the track?
Changing levers to meet road or track conditions was not even an option on the older system as well. With the new RCS system, a quick, easy adjustment switches between the two settings. With older master cylinders, changing the lever-to-bar ratio required an expensive remote adjuster. With the new RCS master cylinder, an on-the-fly adjustment is possible. Even during a ride, adjusting the lever-to-bar distance is as simple as reaching down and grabbing it Which is especially important as the brakes heat up.
Another important feature about the RCS is that it is radial. The direct pull to the piston is from the lever as opposed to an offset lever, enabling you to get faster reaction; the direct push is on the piston.
And finally, what sets the RCS brake lever apart from others is that it survives a crash better than other lever systems. On this system, at the time of a crash, the lever folds instead of breaking. With an older master cylinder, the actuation rod for the piston was attached to the lever, so during a crash, the lever breaks the actuation rod, forcing the master cylinder to be rebuilt.
If you are looking to save money, end frustration and improve your braking, looking at your braking system is a good first step.
