Imagine that last long ride, twisting and turning through a full set of curves. Did the lever keep pulling back farther and farther, making the apex harder to make? You may have been experiencing brake fade.
Most stock motorcycles aren't equipped with components that can take the abuse of performance riding. What looks good on the showroom floor can have real shortcomings when ridden hard. Superbike Suspension recently added a Brembo fully-floating brake rotors to its product line to enable customers a fully-functioning brake system through even the toughest ride.
While most manufacturers say their motorcycles have semi-floating rotors, the perfance level is more along the lines of a fixed rotor. While fully functional and safe, these systems tend to heat up during use and functionality fades as the hydraulic fluid heats up. Once at near boiling point, the brakes loose their ability to grip the edges of the pads, lessening the ability of the brakes to stop properly.
The advantage of a fully-floating brake system is more consistant brake contact. For different applications, Brembo offers brake rotors that are thicker, stronger and dissapate heat faster and better than any stock rotor, ensuring that the apex of the corner will always be there to meet you.
